Leonard S. Schleifer, M.D., Ph.D., is the co-founder, CEO, and President of Regeneron, a leading biotechnology company inventing medicines for people with serious diseases. Under his leadership, Regeneron has developed a portfolio of seven FDA-approved treatments and continues to develop numerous product candidates. The company’s medicines and pipeline focus on eye diseases, allergic and inflammatory diseases, cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, pain, infectious diseases, and rare diseases. He previously served as Chairman of the Board.
Dr. Schleifer has been recognized as one of Barron’s Best CEOs and as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. He earned his B.S. from Cornell University, and his M.D. and Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Virginia, where he studied under pharmacologist Alfred G. Gilman. He is a licensed physician certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and worked as a practicing neurologist before founding Regeneron.
