Sian Beilock is the President of Barnard College. She formerly served as the Stella M. Rowley Professor of Psychology and the Executive Vice Provost of the University of Chicago.

A renowned cognitive scientist, Beilock studies performance anxiety with a focus on success in math and science for women and girls. She explores the factors that influence skill learning and performance in stressful situations, including test-taking and sporting events, in her research and books Choke and How the Body Knows Its Mind.

For her pioneering work in experimental psychology, Beilock received the Troland Award from the National Academy of Sciences. She is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Psychological Association, and a member of the National Academy of Kinesiology.

Beilock received her B.S. in cognitive science from the University of California, San Diego, and her Ph.D. in psychology and kinesiology from Michigan State University.
